Pros: The host was lovely. We were provided with a variety of leaflets with activities in the local area(alongside a few glasses of wine). We definitely recommend Sabotin for the WW1 caves and tunnels and the stunning views. The apartment is beautiful. We could watch the sunrise across the vineyards from the bedroom. The bed was so comfy. We loved the Nespresso machine and pods! We wished we stayed longer. The local wine bar is lovely with nice views. There is a lot to do in the area around Smartno.

Modern apartment surrounded by history

Pros: One of several newly renovated apartments in an ancient stone house. The location is great, right in the historic Šmartno. The apartment is very nice, very clean, spacious and comfortable with a fully equipped kitchen that we didn’t have time to use.

Cons: Just minor details in the bathroom design, nothing that would have an effect on the quality of the stay.

Good find in a fabulous part of the world

Pros: Šmartno is a fabulous little village in a precious area. The apartment is in the perfect l location in the middle of town and has everything you need for a short stay.

Cons: The location and the facilities

If we return, we’d definitely stay at the apartment again—but skip the breakfast, especially at €15 per person.

Pros: The apartment was very chic, spotlessly clean, and perfectly located. The host was incredibly kind and welcoming—he even offered us a glass of wine upon arrival, which was a lovely touch.

Cons: The person in charge of breakfast wasn’t particularly warm or friendly. After we mentioned that we mostly follow a vegan diet, she made a few inappropriate remarks about our food choices and came across as rather curt. As travelers, we tend to be sensitive to such interactions. It’s worth noting that the breakfast area is separate from the apartments, so it’s likely a business partnership.

Pros: A wonderful welcome from our hosts to this beautiful little appartment. Perfect for a stop over in this pretty village - local wine bar and restaurant are excellent.
