Thirsty River Rooms

Good for a 1-2 nights stay

Pros: Clean rooms, basic and old but still... It's a hostel. Shared bathroom was ok but some people really took their time, so maybe it's not enough facilities for the guest capacity (1 bathroom with toilet and 2 showers, but all in the same room, so once you lock yourself in, nobody can use any of it - therefore 2 showers make no sense if they are in the same room. This is for 8 guests upstairs). The common space has a small kitchen and living room with a big dining table. The kitchen is well equipped and there were some leftover foods you could use (sugar, salt, other spices, tea, coffee, etc.). The kitchen could use a water kettle as it takes ages to boil water on the stove. The hostel is above a bar but it doesn't pose a problem. By 22-23h the bar is closed. Staff was friendly. Smash burgers were excellent. Beers were good (lager was my favourite). This is a great option for a 1-2 nights stay.

Cons: We saw one of the guests setting up a mattresses on the floor of the living room, meaning she slept there. That was strange cause this is the common space and we had a feeling we couldn't enter the living room and kitchen anymore. There is no parking available, but the town is small so there's a €5/24h public parking at the entrance of the city (roundabout towards the sky diving area), or even for free if the skydiving airport is not packed (they also have their own parking). The kitchen could use a water kettle.

Pros: Thirsty River Rooms was exactly what you expect from a Hostel - simple, but everything was clean and the staff was very friendly!

Pros: Stayed in one of the private rooms. Surprisingly quiet even though it’s in the same building as a pub. Clean room and bathroom. Staff were friendly. Overall would recommend!

Cons: Only downside for me was the terrible wifi in the room (it is also an open network wifi with no password and unsecure).

Pros: Cozy room, great mountain view from the window. Hostel had everything you might need

Pros: The hostel staff was very friendly and helpful. The room and the bed was comfortable. It is possible to drink fine beers and eat something for dinner

Pros: Amazing location, big shared kitchen, cozy room for a couple.

Outstanding beer for the thirsty Juliana Trail walker!

Pros: This place was a great find! Smart, clean, inexpensive hostel with an excellent brewery and friendly bar staff. What's not to like??!!! We were walking the Juliana Trail and the day was hot, so we needed some of the fantastic beers pretty urgently on arrival! The room was simple, but it and the shared bathroom were both scrupulously clean, and very comfortable. Incidentally we found a really nice little bakery open at 05.30 just 200m from the hostel - perfect for a fresh pastry to get some fuel in the tank for a good day's walking :)

Cons: Nothing to dislike

Pros: Location couldn't be better and the staff is great too. Overall a very pleasant experience and we are looking forward to our next visit.

Cons: There's no air conditioning in the room, which makes sleeping pretty much impossible during hot er days. We had a fan, but it didn't help at all (the rooms are under the roof and it gets super hot). Other than that everything is cozy and great.

Best place in Bovec

Pros: I first was shocked that the hostel is above a bar. But then it turned out as an amazing place! Clean and good facilities, quiet comfy bed.

Nice hostel in the heart of Bovec

Pros: Amazing location in the center of Bovec where you could enjoy a fresh beer after a long day of hiking! Some of the staff members were SUPER KIND and happy to help you, which was really nice!

Cons: We had a room on the top floor and due to the summer heat it got quite hot inside. The hostel did provide a fan, so they did what they could, I guess this is inevitable in summer. They cleaned the common areas daily, trying to maintain good hygiene standards. The upstairs bathroom unfortunately didn't have a window, which caused a bit of a moldy smell due to the difficulty of ventilation.
