The almost thousand-year-old castle has been beautifully preserved, combining authentic medieval charm with modern comfort. Our stay was flawless: the room was spotless, cozy, and tastefully decorated. The host went above and beyond to make our experience memorable, offering genuine hospitality that felt personal and heartfelt. The wine tasting was exceptional, showcasing elegant, local wines paired with delicious food. The breakfast (with amazing view) was one of the best we’ve had in Slovenia — fresh, abundant, and beautifully presented. Every moment at Castle Vinica felt special. It’s a place where history, nature, and warmth come together to create something truly unforgettable.

A magical place to stay.

Pros: What a lovely experience to stay in a renovated castle. The room was amazing, so spacious, clean and luxurious. Very kind hosts who made us feel very welcome. We were able to store our bicycles securely overnight. The breakfast was fantastic and we sat eating it looking over the river. Would highly recommend staying.

Pros: This place is truly charming, offering a deep sense of peace and harmony. We only stayed for one night, but we are already eager to return and spend more time here. The room exudes intimacy, history, and quietness, while the nearby river creates a natural harmony that makes the experience unforgettable. The host welcomed us warmly and even surprised us with a thoughtful gift, making our stay feel even more special.

Pros: I had a great stay at this hotel! The room was very clean, and I especially enjoyed the beautiful view from the window!! The breakfast was delicious with a nice variety, and the staff were extremely kind and helpful. Overall, a lovely experience — I would definitely stay here again!

Cons: We were charged for two bottles of water. For a hotel in this price range, I believe it would be more appropriate to offer at least one complimentary bottle of water per day in the room.

Pros: The location was fabulous with the most amazing view. We stayed in the largest room with the wooden bathtub…the suite was beautifully decorated and very large and comfortable. We were the only guests so had the run of the castle. Wonderful breakfast spread and eggs etc was also on offer, unfortunately we are not really breakfast people but everything we had was delicious! The owner Alexander spoke Russian with little English, however we managed to communicate sufficiently, very welcoming. A bottle of their own wine was waiting to welcome us. Beautiful walk along the river.

Cons: We stayed before the beginning of the season so dinner was not available, however we found a great restaurant about 20 minutes away. We did find it hard to get a comfortable temperature for the 2 air conditioners on the remotes …but wasn’t worth bothering anyone.
